double measured today using my standard cyclocomputer and also the runtastic app because i wanted to see what my change in elevation was. turns out, it gives me *lots* of information. keep in mind the app records everything whereas the cyclocomputer is programmed to only record when the front wheel turns. also, my estimated 193 wheel circumference setting isn’t that far off from what GPS satellites say is my distance.

runtastic:

  • 11.24 miles
  • 1:04:17 h:m:s
  • 10.5 mph average speed
  • 5:43 min/mile average pace

out for a spin

i put those new tires to the test today. my klein is like an old friend, but a noticeably heavier friend. after being on my cannondale for the last few rides, i can tell you that the klein is a smoother ride (thanks in part to the front fork) but i don’t zoom zoom like i can on my road bike. that 5+ pounds makes a difference (klein = 25lbs, cannondale = <20.32lbs (53cm frame weight; i have 47cm). regardless, i enjoyed myself, i didn't do anything stupid, i used my hand turn signals, i got out and back safely, and it was a beautiful ride. oh, and did i mention that finally after 22 years of biking, i finally got the handlebar setup that i wanted:

  • 9.31 mi
  • 48.52 mins
  • 11.4 mph avg spd

n.b., reset the wheel circumference to 193 – need to roll that out for an exact measurement.

new tires

m encouraged me to buy 2 new tires instead of just the 1 i thought i needed. “better safe than sorry; no need to take the risk,” she said. or something like that. so i replaced 2 tubes and 3 tires today (townie was the 3rd). and because i’m a nerd, i lined the decal up with the valve stem.  aren’t the new tire “hairs” cute?
