palomino notebook

palomino luxury notebook (drawing/plain)

this is my new palomino notebook. and it plays nicely with my freshly refilled fountain pen in dark blue ink. money… clairefontaine/rhodia, watch out, the new kid on the block is a superstar. moleskine, even with your new evernote smart notebook, you can’t quite compete. palomino paper is superior.

the key here is the 90 gsm acid free paper. i have a theory that 90 gsm is the crucial weight to support the saturation of dark fountain pen ink. clairefontaine is the gold standard for me with its beautifully white paper and smooth and satiny but also fountain pen friendly finish. unfortunately, clairefontaine doesn’t make a 3.5 x 5.5 notebook in plain paper. exaclair produces the rhodia webnotebook for such a purpose, but it’s hard to find plain in stationers and even at amazon.

i have no idea how environmentally friendly palomino is. for now, i will bask in my “expectations met” status and investigate this question later. ignorance is bliss.
